Closing of the SIG on Generative AI, DEI, and Research Integrity: Managing the Intersections

Dear NERQies,

As our Special Interest Group (SIG) on π†πžπ§πžπ«πšππ’π―πž π€πˆ, πƒπ„πˆ, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 π‘πžπ¬πžπšπ«πœπ‘ 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐒𝐭𝐲: 𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐒𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐒𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐑𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐬 comes to a close, we would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for your invaluable participation and contributions.

This SIG was formed with the purpose of exploring how the use of Generative AI influences researchers’ behavior and cognition, particularly in relation to their understanding and implementation of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles, as well as established research integrity policies.

The evolving role of Generative AI in research has significant implications for interactions between researchers, their subjects, and broader society. By critically examining these intersections, our goal was to provide insights, develop recommendations for universities, and create practical training materials to ensure that DEI and research integrity principles remain central to this transformation.

Although we are still at the beginning of this journey, having merged two existing SIGs to create this focused initiative, we are proud of the foundation we have built together. Your insights and engagement have laid a crucial groundwork for future exploration and policy development in this critical area.

Thank you once again for your commitment and collaboration. While this SIG concludes, we hope the discussions, ideas, and connections made here will continue to inspire impactful work in the field.

Warm regards,

Katharina Miller
